On the left: How did you start to make paper sculptures? Qiu Wen: I used to study oil paintings and expressed my ideas on the plane. Later I wanted to try three-dimensional things. Because I used to do paper dollhouses to play games and ship models, so it was natural. Paper was chosen as the material, and the paper was easy to obtain and easy to shape, so it started.

Left: The image in your work, where did those ideas come from? Qiu Wen: I like poetry very much. I also like fairy tales. I like animals and animals inside. I feel that every part of nature actually has her spirits. Gradually, these ideas have become my own. works. I think this is where my ideas come from.

On the left: Which of the works in your work impresses you most? Qiu Wen: My most impressive work was a large installation made three years ago. It was a stage for paper. There was a gramophone on the stage, a graffiti floated out of a horse, and a feathered heart. The work is three meters high and it is done for three months. In the end, I hung everything up. He also asked He Yunshi to take a magazine cover. Then the work was complete. Although the process was very hard, it was very fulfilling at the moment of completion.

I think basically modern people are hard to go beyond ancient aesthetics and craftsmanship. In the past, the craftsmen could devote their lives to the production of one piece of art and passed it from one generation to another, just as a tree would have to be deposited for a hundred years to grow into a towering tree. So for tradition and nature, my heart is full of admiration.

Left: What are your thoughts and plans for your career and life? Qiu Wen: For me now, I hope to continue to maintain the purity of the works, because I feel that the things that are not mixed with excessive expressions are the things that are beautiful. I am still exploring this point. It will take some time. . I don't really plan deliberately, and I don't set goals very much. I think a lot of things can be done as long as they are natural.
