A study by the University of Auckland in New Zealand showed that babies sleeping on old mattresses or using old pillows would increase the risk of asthma in the future.

The study surveyed 871 children in Auckland. Among them, 24% of children developed asthma at 3 and a half years old; 18% of children developed asthma at 7 years old. Among all the factors that cause asthma, the researchers found that sleeping on a mattress within one year of birth is one of the major risk factors for asthma in newborns.

In this regard, the researchers said that it may be because the old bedding contains a lot of mites and bacteria, which is more likely to cause children with "ash, sputum" allergies, and other health problems caused by bacterial toxins.
