Wisal Monnoo, acting chairman of the APTMA, said that Pakistan's Tariff Commission (NTC) will not impose anti-dumping duties on China's polyester staple fiber.
He said that the NTC has accepted the All Pakistan Textile Manufacturers Association (APTMA) to urge not to impose anti-dumping duties on China's polyester staple fiber.
According to the Pakistani domestic polyester staple fiber industry application, NTC launched an anti-dumping investigation on polyester staple fiber from China in June 2012.
APTMA does not agree to levy anti-dumping duties on polyester staple fibres. APTMA stressed that imports of polyester staple fibres will increase the import of textiles. In the long run, it will benefit the development of the textile industry because the use of terylene will inevitably increase.
Polyester staple fiber is an important industrial raw material used by the textile industry to increase the value of exported textiles. Mr. Monnoo said that because of its increased competitiveness, these value-added textile products have created billions of dollars.
In addition, in order to increase its competitiveness in the global market, Mr. Monnoo said that the operating profit of the global textile industry is very low. In order to gain a foothold in this competitive and motivating market, we must allow the import of polyester staple fiber, because Pakistan's domestic polyester staple fiber production gap is about 150,000 tons, and domestic demand is about 500,000 tons per year.
The imposition of anti-dumping duties will affect the competitiveness of Pakistan's export-oriented textile products. Therefore, APTMA and other parties concerned oppose taxation and introduce them to NTC.
APTMA pointed out that the imposition of temporary anti-dumping tariffs on polyester staple fibre for a period of four months has pushed up the import cost of polyester staple fiber, as domestic polyester staple fiber producers have also increased their profits, resulting in higher prices of domestic staple polyester staple fibres. .
